Functional Capacity Assessment

Comprehensive FCA to inform planning and return-to-work.

A Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) is a structured, evidence-based evaluation of what a person can safely do — physically and functionally — across a working day.

When it's useful

  • Return-to-work planning under workers compensation or CTP
  • NDIS reasonable-and-necessary evidence for supports and equipment
  • DSP supporting evidence and vocational planning
  • Baseline for progressive rehabilitation programs

What we assess

  • Sitting, standing, walking and postural tolerances
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling (Snook/PDC methodology)
  • Reaching, handling, fingering and stair use
  • Cardiovascular endurance and pain behaviour

Report and turnaround

You receive a structured written report with objective data, PDC-band ratings, safe work tolerances and clear recommendations — typically within 5–7 business days of the assessment.
